Yeah - the pvp was awesome.

What were the Arks again?

Shroomies has a Goblin Mage, Goblin Trickster and Goblin Warrior - right?

Team B (the Jersey Hogs) had a Gnobbit Trickster (Sue)and what else?

Next year we need an equation for what winning is: Total remaining wounds + Total remaining spoints + remaining Phew! -10 penalty for each lost Ark. We need to get a threshold for victory...

This was a great game - can't wait to run it again. I'll be posting notes on the two pvp games we ran. The Sat night game was awesome too, but there was no "firing of lazers"... thank god!

we won because we played smart. Even with the -10 penalty for a dead Bandar, we still would have won! mrgreen

The Firin' meh lazer was all part of the plan. To fool you into thinking we didn't know what was going on!

Just shows you how awesome the Shroom eaters were...I even used the spells randomly!

He pulled more than those two spells. He went through a shuffle...so he cast at least 5 spells. Those are the Shroom eater rules!cheesygrin

Dang!

I thought the body count was higher... Only 1 dead player...

The random spell pick rocks - perfect for WEGS.

PVP 3 versus 3 works well. I'd like to add another trio to the pvp mix next year so that it's a three-sided fight. 9 players might slow us up a bit, but if we're all experienced the game will fly despite the number. I love just sitting back and watching the chaos!

You guys do pvp tournaments with other games - throw me some ideas for what constitutes victory. Can't just be body count or last Ark standing. Or can it?!?

well...most of the tournies we run are "scenario" based, which means victory is all based on the game. Sometimes it's "rescue" style, which means get something and get it off the board.

For PvP RPGs, you could do "men down" where the team that kills the most (NPCS, PCs, whatever) get's points, and get's points for HP remaining, and for WEGS, Phews and Spoints should work into the scenario.

Also, the GM could award "points" for cool stuff, like working together, or whatever. The problem for PvP RPG is how to award "buffs" like Sages/Clerics/whatever....

Tough to work out!

Capture the Helm!

One of the classic Player vs. Player scenarios out there is CTF (capture the flag)

In the WEGS version of this the players are divided into equal number of teams with an equal number of players. The more teams there are the harder it is to win. Int he middle of the WEGS mat a helm is placed. Each team is assigned a "base." The first team to capture the helmet and return it to their base wins!

Here are some stats on the helm.
Since this is wegs, it is not a normal Helm, and we like to punish people for trying to "win"

The helmet causes the ark to forfeit his STL R bonus to INV% rolls. This is to to the fact that the helmet has not eye slits.

The ark who is carrying the helmet is reduced to 1 Move (Spoint Move still works)

And the ark who is wearing the helmet gains an additional 10% Armor.

The Ark can act normally in every other way.

Just try to get that helm home!

Nothing like a nice shiny magic item to draw the players to the center of the table...

We've got a year to figure out our pvp rules though! I don't usually go in for pvp action, but it was a blast to watch the two games we ran at GenCon. I'll definately put this back on the menu for Origins and GenCon scheds next year (again as an invite only event).

I'll be posting notes on the other pvp we ran - that was a wicked little game, too...

A Sage/Ranger who threw up Fear My Lyrd to keep all opponents at range...

Nice!

The only problem w/ that helm is that you take a invuranable warrior like mine who walks 8 and runs 16 and he runs up and is back in like 1 turn aka no time to kill him

I was just saying that plan is flawed no need to get hostile.
although i do like the helm idea what you should do w/ it is have it that when you put it on if no body kills you in say 3-4 turns you get a point and whoever gets most points at end win

Pastry neglected to read this.
