Hey all...by the darn luck of having a local internet connection AND bringing a camera...I suddenly became communications director for TTG at Origins

As is typical Thursdays is a day to shake down everything and make plans for the next two days.

For some reason there are early risers here and right off the bat we were doing Infinity and Alkemy demos at 8:00. Jereme did all the explaining while I pulled out the minis that the player will be using. We had 4 players and we broke the 2-200 point armies into 2 squads of 4 figures each.

The deciding moment came when a Tiger Soldier used airbourne infiltration and was flaming the nomads backfield, winning the game for Yu-Jing.

Second demo went well with only 3 players, and it ended up a Nomad win.

Quite a few Alkemy demos were played, but unfortunately due to customs, the Warstore doesn't have any stock to sell. But, I have it on good authority that a couple of the figures being offered for the Paint-and-Take are Alkemy minis.

And in a Beachhead battle between the Imperium of Man and the Tau Empire, Humanity has routed the alien scum.

Both the Guardtower and the Warstore has come through with prizes for the tournament tomorrow. The winner of the tournament will receive a package with the new Yu-Jing Starter, Hac-Tao with Missle Launcher, a pack of Butai and a Zahnshi Gunner.

Look for a report tomorrow.

Got in a bit too late to post pictures and do a full report about Friday's happenings, as I'm now getting ready for todays events. But I will have a full report posted by Sundayish...maybe....

Nah, we do have pictures of our winners from the tournament, and a lovely model showing off our the TTGamer bowling shirt (see if that makes more members want to buy one!).

It took me a while to depressurize as well as catch up what I needed to do at work, but here I am posting the rest of the pictures I took during Origins.

First off we have the lovely "Kain's Hottie" (sorry, but that's what her shirt said) modeling the TTGamers shirt. What every amazing Game Master should wear to conventions.

We of course still had Alkemy Demos, running throughout the weekend, here we have Kain, our fearless lesder, training new initiates.

As well as several Infinity Demos:

We used the desert board the most, running with 2 to 4 players, with jereme using the same 200 point Yu-Jing and Nomad starter based forces.

My Urban/Industrial board got a demo or two

And we had a demo to test out the Swamp board.

We of course had the Infinity Beginners Tournament Friday afternoon, and while we had wished it had been better attended, it still allowed us to setup procedures and plug a few holes so we will be better prepared for the GenCon tournament. This also gave us the time to help the newer players into a better understanding of some of the more subtle rules.

First round was a kill-em-all game to drive the opponent into retreating. Both sides were playing Yu-Jing on the swamp board. We did learn what adjustments we need to make on the board setup to control some long lanes of fire.

Here we show Close Combat between a Domaru and a Guilang.

Round two was on the Ice Chasm board, with a mission of destroying your opponents markers. The weather was uncharacteristically Sunny and Clear for most of the engagement, meaning that for this board to work rougher weather needs to occur more often. And we also need to limit what infiltrators can do when deployed on the chasm floor. Where the boards meet I will be installing a water feature that will make it difficut to cross at the top of the chasm to the other side. The board was pretty bloody, thanks to the weather, with the loser retreating before all his markers had been destroyed.

In the final round, we threw the rules for the tournament away, and we gave them a 200 point Nomad force plus a Szalamandra Squadron and a 200 point Pan-O army with a Cutter. Play was on the Urban board, and the objective again was to destroy the enemy's markers. An interesting act of defiance and retribution occured. The Cutter had be previously spotted so a gutsy Intruder did manage to get into light flamethrower range to burn off the Cutter's TO coating.

Naturally the Cutter wasn't too happy about the situation and decided to return the favor.

This did end up later with the Cutter being taken by some HMG fire later.

Well here is our First Place winner; our own Garret Allegee

And the Runner Up; Patrick Donley

Found out that my Urban board could use a bit of work, especially when doing missions, as there is a lot of manuvering needed just to get a shot off, that the markers became secondary to just finding a good lane of fire.

With a bit of adjustment, we should be ready for GenCon.

Looks like everyone enjoyed their time. I suppose I should get finished building my PanO forces for GenCon.

very impressive tables. Glad mine got left at home. They are week compared to that stuff. Nice work.

Swamp and desert tables are very nice terrain. Urban and Ice boards are way cool too.

Talked with Mike at the Guardtower this evening (Picked up my Lizard and Guilang Sniper) and they had a couple hundred dollars in Infinity stuff sold that weekend. No coupons turned in yet, but for some it's a bit early. Still the Guardtower is happy, and hopefully some new blood will come in for Tuesday's Infinity sessions.

Rich,

You got all the good bits from the Beginners Tourny, except one. The errant E/M grenade. The picture of the ice board is just about at the right point, when the Domaru coming down the ramp threw her grenade at the Dao Fei in the cave. Of course I missed the roll and it deviated right on top of my very own Shang Ji.d'oh!

Even though I got spanked in every round, it was great fun.
