I seem to be hitting repeat on Metallica's Master of Puppets allot lately. Brings me back to 7th/8th grade when I picked up the album ( god, I feel to old now). Listening to "Thing That Should not Be" and seeing the Potomac river (listened to the album the entire time on my school trip the Washington DC) just kinda makes me smile. You guys have any you seem to be digging out from the past to listen to. Another is King Diamond "Abigail"- Listened to it for an entire summer, and on my vacation to Alaska. Wow, most of mine seem to be vacation/trip related.

Yeah, Master of Puppets has that effect. It reminds me of high school. My best friend bought it as a gift for me. I listen to a lot of 80's music when I'm feeling nostalgic about my childhood, particularly Fine Young Cannibals. Listening to Da Yoopers reminds me of my early college days. For my later college days, there's Apocalyptica's Inquisition Symphony which we listened to during LAN parties. The strangest case of music-triggered memories is linked to the soundtrack of Godspell. I was listening to it while I was learning the rules to Warhammer 40K and now I can't hear the music without thinking of Warhammer. bilesuck wrote:Yep, bringing back the jiggly avy. I'd say about once a month I listen to Voivod's "Dimension Hatross" and/or Pink Floyd's "The Wall" albums. However, I do listen to a lot of individual songs from other albums. I listened to Master of Puppets just the other day as well as some good ol' Man-O-War. Gotta love to old skool metal. As an aside, I think about the coolest thing music-related that I discovered recently is my youngest son's love of music. He tells me all the time how when he's in music class and the teacher plays some old 60s or 70s rock music (Bowie, Zeppelin, Jimi, etc.) he surprises her by being the only person in the class who is familiar with the songs. He drives my fiance crazy with that old music (she's not a LZ, Rush, or Bowie fan). It's pretty awesome. ;) Later, Totengraber P.S. Kain: why don't we have a \m/ smiley?! Nothing comforts the soul like Led Zeppelin...nothing!
Man I can just listen to their stuff over and over. I, III, IV, Coda...man, everything is awesome. In fact, I think right now is a great time for some III!
Also, I've been hammerin' the Psychostick "We couldn't think of a title" a lot the past few days. I just love the humor Heavy metal mix...it's sweet!
Anyway, I'll look around and see if I can get a nice jiggly image and a sweet \m/ smile if I can find one. T, you got any place that has one?

Dude....I know I'm gonna be banned shortly but recently....
It's Thriller.
They released the 25 year anniversary album. It really is good.
My wife can still do all the moves from the video (included in the release) and the kids love it...even the creepy stuff.
MoP is also a classic. BTW - Jason Newsted went to my school (2 years older then me) dropped out when he was 16 and went to LA. I made out with this sister....that is as close to fame as I have ever been.

I love Master of Puppets although, honestly, I think I like Ride the Lightning better. I guess I'm more mellow these days, I usually listen to The Joshua Tree from U2 or Out of Time, or Green from REM. And just about everything from Pink Floyd gets some play.

I cannot really say that there is anything that I am putting miles on lately. I have been a big fan of Split Lip Rayfield, a local band that has a blues/bluegrass sound to it. In the past I have listened to Tool and Perfect Circle.

I have been listening to a good deal of Ministry as of late... Al put out the last album for the band and it rock my face off so hard I have been looking for it for about a month... I find that all of Ministry's albums make their way through my normal rotation... so does Skinny Puppy 'Too Dark Park.' I also find that I cannot be without a few Smashing Pumpkins albums in the mix.
Hmmm now that I think about it I have a hankerin' for some My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and Front 242... (I'm an industrial junkie)

(I'm an industrial junkie) Oh yeah, Al's an a-hole (ran into him in Chi-town once, in a club, literally ran into him) but the man makes awesome music. Ministry/revolting cocks/1000 homo dj's always are in my mp3 player. Skinny puppy albums for me are Rabies and Last Rights.

Really I find that most musicians that make really great music are a-holes when you meet them. lol. So bilesuck, are you going to see Ministry last tour this May? If so what show?

I might, I don't know. I have seen em so many times, they used to play little clubs here in Chicago sometimes to prep for big upcoming tours (when he used to record here). I'll have to check the dates for around here and see.

You should totally go. Al said that it will be a career retrospect, so we are going to hear some stuff that he has not played live in YEARS. The website said that it would be an over 2 1/2 hour set. It's going to rock so hard!

Waaay ahead of it's time. That it was, I remember listening to that in layout class in college, it made it bearable. @Mustard- Maybe I'll see about seeing Al and Co. this time around.

Rush - 2112 If I'm not in the mood for anything in particular - that's the one. Brings back _lots_ of memories. Lots of clear, sober ones even. Although there are a few albums that I could listen to all the time that wouldn't bother me - 2112 has got to be king.
