This week's beasty...
Ochre Jelly

Quote:This oozing mess of jelly slides down dungeon corridors looking for prey. It's touch dissolves flesh, but that's only the start of the pain!
Arketype: Ranger (Trickster/Warrior)
Minion Level: As per form
Number Appearing: d3
Size: 2d10 SQR (puddle form)
General Notes: This blob is attracted by vibrations which it can sense up to 24 SQR away! It can sense a rat's heartbeat within 8 SQR. Once attracted, the blob moves slowly toward target, patiently following its vibratory trail. Luckily for Tricksters,
Catlike Tread does not cause vibrations. Because of its utter silent movement,
Act Fast! tests should be rarely given for jellified encounters.
Jellies make no noise...
The HeaveOnce within striking distance of target, it heaves up from its puddle form to strike foe (as a Ranger/Ruggedness attack). The Kreator determines the Heave Strength, treating the puddle form as the total number of Minion Levels available for striking (as Ranger). A 14 SQR jelly has 14 Minion Levels to distribute. This can be fourteen 1 ML strikes, two 7 ML strikes, a 8ML + 6ML combo, or any combination the Kreator dreams up.
Heave RangeFor every three levels dedicated to the strike, the jelly is 1 SQR tall. The 14 ML puddle can heave a max range of 4 SQR high (that's 14/3 with a 2ML heave remaining). This allows it a ranged attack. Any attack that is 3 ML and less is considered a touch attack and the jelly resorts to its Warrior/Prowess stats for the strike (i.e two ML levels down).
Heave-y DamageHeaving does not do heavy damage. Heave attacks only do (d6 x WS) Wounds to target. An 8 ML strike hits with 6 WS strength. The strike is based on Ruggedness, the damage is based on its lesser Warrior Strength (two points lower than the strike).
Jelly BurnThe heave is really only a way for the jelly to get a taste of its foe. When it heaves, it leaves a little sticky residue behind that starts to freeze away flesh. Targets lucky enough the roll successful INV% take no damage and non-living matter is not affected. Similar to
Flaming Fryball, these elemental wounds (EW) occur only at the
Spante. No wounds are suffered upon first strike. Wounds suffered are equal to the Heave Strength. An 8 ML Heave does 8 EW at the Spante. A 14 ML Heave does 14 EW at the Spante. This damage only lasts for d3 Spantes. From the monster's point of view, it's best to heave big. Much like frostbite, a nasty blackness covers the flesh of the affected area. Elemental fire wounds of at least half level eradicate the frigid jelly (for a 14 frost EW, the Ark must take 7 fire EW to counter). Resist Poison also lessens that freeze-dried feeling...
Invulnerability Rules
The jelly establishes its INV% based on its highest possible ML. A 14 ML jelly puddle has 88 INV%. If a jelly was only 6 ML in puddle form, the max would be 66%. As long as the jelly has is at least 8 ML in puddle form, it possesses 88 INV%. The jelly is immune from cold-based damage, though suffers RR1s on any fire-based Damage Die roll. Fire damage though does reduce its puddle size.
