What's a sword-n-sorcery game without skrowls, right?
As the next module,
B2 Minotaur Meat, has to do with a Kazabalankan skrowl merchant, I'm finally introducing rules for skrowls and skrowlblasting.
O Skrowls are magically or mystically inscribed skins and hides. These are the hides of fabled enchanted beasts (such as dragons, unicorns, minotaurs), the only materials known to be able to withstand the enchanting process.
O For game play, skrowls hold one spell each and are considered to be in the cast phase.
Sense Magic/Mystic is not needed to blast the spell. Any Ark from any realm may blast the spell, and once released the skrowl withers away.
O Skrowls are enchanted in levels. The level of the skrowl is the level of the spell it holds. Each skrowl level gains the blaster an 11% success mark. A Level 4 skrowl has a 44% chance to blast off.
O Skrowlblasting costs a single spoint. Players can dump spoints onto this base to heighten the base success mark. The greater an Ark’s SPS (Spell Point Strength), the more powerful their use of skrowls. Skrowls will be best in the hands of skolars.
O A failed skrowl blasting loses the base ignition spoint. That's the downside of skrowl use.
WegsampleA Ranger with a 4 SPS is blasting a Level 4 skrowl that has
Enchant Weapon on it. The player pays a spoint to use the skrowl. The base success mark is 44%. Not satisfied with the odds, the player dumps their remaining spoints in, too. 3 spoints adds 30% to the success mark. The skrowlblasting now has a 74% to blow.
If successful, the spell goes into effect and the skrowl disintegrates.
If unsuccessful, the player only loses the base ignition spoint (similar to a failed
Sense Magic/Mystic) and has just wasted an inning.
Just trying to keep the game table level...
