Attempting to start a 40k army. Started a few years ago but got derailed by Conf. Miss playing with mini's and no one near plays conf so I have decided to go with the evil empire. So as to my question. I want to do Witch Hunters and need some advice what to get to start with. Looking something that will help me get better with various rules and good theme. Not wanting the power gamer list just something fun to play that will give me better knowledge of the game.

I thought this was going to be a discussion on Ciriid Witch Hunters for Malifaux. Have't played 40k in awhile, but when I did play against SoB, I always thought the Seraphins were pretty awesome. They're like raptors/Assault Marines. Flagenlants are a good countercharging unit now in 5th ed. The Rhinos that pack the INferno cannons. Let you throw out the flame template and ignores the cover saves which everyone now gets.

Sometimes I had pretty good luck with the Vindicare Assassin, but that was 4th edition combat patrol.

Can someone that has the second printing Witch Hunters codex confirm whether or not I can use Sisters of battle & Space Marines in the same list ? I only have the first print codex + I checked the FAQ on the GW site but I think I remember someone saying something that supported the pic on page 62 of the first print codex of a Sisters of Battle/Space Marine alliance even though the rules in first print state that they can not both be in the same force.

No, you cannot use Space Marines with Witch Hunters. Daemon Hunters can, but Witch Hunters cannot.

You can use space marines with witch hunters, you just can't use any Adepta Sororitas (Sisters of Battle) units. So you can use the inquisition.
You can if the space marines list is the primary list take sisters as allies, but are limited to 1 HQ, 2 Troop, 1 Elite, 1 Fast.

Witch hunters have some nice options. The non-sisters style units are ok, but I tend to want as many faith points as I can get. So therefore my entire amry is sisters or sisters vehicles. I have about 2k of sisters, but have only played them once in 5th ed. It did not go well and my list will need a significant renovation before it could be played in 5th.
I love the executioner. Who doesn't like d6 krak missles a turn. The immolators are cool as well with some melta flamer love action. The biggest problem they have is that with exception to the executioner all their weapons are 24" or less. So that means you got to get close, normally a turn or two from charge range and they are not that good in HtH. So you better make your shooting count. The seraphim are neat on paper and the models are nice, but on the table they are way too fragile to really be affective. They are kinda like swooping hawks with 3+ save and bolt pistols (str 3, tough 3). They have hit and run, but that only works if you live through the fight.

My girldfiend has gone all Sisters and we found that heavy flamers and flamers are your friends. In fact under the current rules, flamers are auto-include now.

Powergaming requests : - rulebook - codex
4 packs of 10 sistas with 1 rhino each. Meltas and heave flamers of course ! 2 Canonesses (flying with 2 hand weapons, like... eviscerator) or 1 canoness and 1 special flying character I can't remember the name of. 2 heavy support tanks with the pipes... Exorcits !!! 1 squad of 10 seraphims. 1 squad of retributors with heavy bolters and an Imagifer. Just so you can use faith to get rending bolts on a shooting phase... for a very cheap price !
This a serious base for losing friends...

For a Canadian guy working for a French company, SHWTD certainly plays like he has a pair.
Though I'm not sure of what.

That is about as cheesey as Sisters can get. Though you have to be careful with the solo cannonnesses. They hit really hard, but go down easy. And some pics from GenCon last year:

I was going to see about trading the Space Marines I have for some more Sisters so I could fill up my units, but I think I'm going to need them for their weapons so I can convert some of my Confrontation Griffins over to 40K. The Seneschal of Hod is screaming he wants to be an Inquisitor Lord. I'm going to break out my old GW & Rackham catalogs & compare the Witch Hunters & Griffins.

Canoness Jet pack Eviscerator 2+ Armor. Then, once you get in trouble, use faith point to turn your save invulnerable... 2+ invulnerable save, without paying for it, each time you need it... She will last longer than anyone... Then, when she falls, she'll even give you more faith point... lol The only fragile thing you have in this army are the jetpack regular sistas, which are here to hunt down some troops that could be trouble for you later and then die to give you what ? Faith points !!! lol With this army list, you can spend from 3 to 6 faith points per turn starting turn 2 or 3 (depending on the scenario...). Loing becomes the challenge... Oh, don't forget : 5 sistas with flamer, heavy flamer, superior sista with the one shot heavy flamer/HtH weapon in an immolator : 5 flamer templates, with the appropriate power to make 6s become rending... Believe me, it's nasty on anything...
