So yeah, I'm somewhat hooked again. The girlfriend and I started playing, and she's got a co-worker who plays regularily. So we've been stopping by the LGS for Friday Night Magic.
I have to be careful who I play with as I'm only there for fun and if you're a competitive bastard I don't want to play you. Sadly there's quite a few of those.
But yeah. At least I'm having fun with it again.

Yeah, I think it's a fun game as long as you don't get too competitive. I mostly play with cards that I like, rather than building sick combos and stuff.
It also helps cut down the spending if you're more casual ;)

Yeah, I also don't add more than 2 of a card to a deck. Usually. I go for a theme, an ususally have fun unless I play any of the hardcore Magic players.

Wow. I was just looking at making a faerie deck. Not cheap. the core of the deck is 4 Bitterblossoms, worth $25 each.

Nah, cuz then I wouldn't have enough money to spend on metal & plastic, and I still need lots of Infinity figs. I suppose if I expand into making more decks it vould get out of hand, but for now, I just pick up a couple boosters now and then, trade the rares for cards I want, and get more boosters. I got $25 in trade yesterday, so I nabbed a couple cards and boosters. Got 2 more good Rares to trade from those boosters. And as long as I play casually, I don't need to worry about dropping a crapload of cash to be competitive.

I caught the Magic bug again back when Lorwyn came out. I have a crapton of cards from all the sets since then. I kinda laid off the game a little before Eventide, but I still pick up cards now and again. The problem I have though is I don't play at FNM, I just collect them. There's not too many people I like to play against at FNM, and sadly that's also when the LGS is also at it's most fragrant. :) So essentially I'm collecting and just playing the GF.

I love paper Magic, but I mostly just play Magic Online because it means I can play a game with people other than my small group of friends without having to wear a respirator.

Last saturday i let the owner of my lgs let me talk into playing Magic by giving me a free deck. So i am learning now how it all works. I know one thing though: FoW will still be by number 1 game and i play for fun so as soon as i am going to face overpowering hardcore players i stop playing. BTW i choose for a green deck AV

I looked into Magic Online, but I just can't justify paying for digital boosters and starters. I want something solid for my cash.
I play a red/black Elemental deck. I'd love to build a Black and lue Faerie deck, but when it relies on 3-4 different $25 cards...

I will never pay $25 or the same in euros for 1 simple card made of paper. But i have the luck that the store owner just opens 1 off the boxes of all the cards he owns, put out all the cards for a green deck than with his help choose what cards are good to use (not an uber deck just for normal use)and wich not. And than gave them to me for free. AV

Nice! Having a store owner help really get's people into the game! I was thinking about getting back into Magic...which is bad for me...so I tossed magic cards in the box of stuff I sent Breten...that I should have given him at Gencon!

I'd pay up to $10 for a card I really want, but that's about it. Even then I usually just trade for what I need at the LGS. There were a couple cards I saw at GenCon I would have picked up, but that would have been less to spend on minis.
