But yes I'm seriously looking into Dark Age as my next game, enough that I'm looking to ordering minis. And taking heed of Kain's warnings, I'm still leaning towards St Mark. I'm finally reading the meat of the rules, and they work rather well, but I was a bit confused about adding the target's defense value to find your target number, till I realized the better units had a lower defensive score.
Infiniy is still my game, and with 20 years investment in 40K I'm not divesting myself of my Eldar and Tau. But I am finding alot to like in Dark Age that I'm even thinking of boards appropriate for Samaria.

it's a "low number" system. You got an AS of 8...I got a def of 3...you need an 11 or less to hit me on a d20.

yeah at first you will find yourself a bit off on guessing mainly because the measurement is in centimeters rather than inches like most games. But after playing a few times things like Target Numbers (TN) and estimating ranges in CM will come more natural. With that said Dark Age is a fantastic and solid game! What are you thinking about putting with St Mark? The Wasted Warrior... Because no warrior should face battle sober...

Haven't run any numbers yet, but I planned on using Dedlock, Weaponsmith and Warwind. But I'm intriqued about having a Ravage squad tossing grenades with abandon, and a Firestorm squad for some close in AoE. Plus the typical Coils squad.
Don't know if the Ravages are that cost effective to get the grenades as their CA weapons aren't as effective as the Bane's, even with better stats.
Is this like a mix between a Mary and a Mark list by using the Ravages?

Ravages are awesome but i do guess it depends on your play style, in my Mary list they are there for several reasons. 1) add more nades (my list is Mary Bombz) 2) smoke grenades to cover the advance and 3) to take care of any hordes i might encounter. Nades are pretty useful because they are only 4x2 they have Knock Prone which can delay any forces from getting to you or give you a better chance to hit them in combat. Though they have a lower AS stat with their double maces, they do have a lower defense so are tad better at NOT getting hit. The Wasted Warrior... Because no warrior should face battle sober...

Assuming of course you don't drop them at your feet like it seemed a lot of my opponents did at GenCon. I still lost every game, but yeah, grenades.

Yay more Dark Age Players! St. Mark is very deadly. They are the Tau of this world, as they have a lot of guns.
